  • Investigation on Parasitic Nematodes Associated with the W ild Grapes Native to China

  • Species and densities of parasitic nematode8 were systematically investigated from the daizosphere soil of 73 clone 8 which belong to 17 species of wild grapes native to China. 19 species of plant nematodes belonging to 9 genera respectively were identified from 300 soil samples,which contained six species of Helicotylenchus,four species of Xiphinema, two species of Paratylenchus, two species of Tylenchorhynchus, and one species of Longidorus, ParatylenchusRotylenchusCriconemoides and Hoplolaimus each. Nematode population usually consisted of 2—5 genera.Three genera i.e Helicotylenchus, Paratylenchus and Tylenchorhynchus spread widely in many wild clones.Differences of nematode genera and densities among diferent wild clones were given.The results would be basis for stock selection resistant to parasitic nematodes.

  • The objective of this study was to determine the eytolngieal origin of 2n posen in ‘Zenjiman’ persimmon.Pollen mother cel analyses revealed that 2n polen resulted from fused spindles,triange spindles,or abnormal disorientation of sister ehromatid during metaphase II and anaphase II of mierosporogenesis.94.8% of 2n po len formation was controled by fused spindles and triange spindles ,which were genetically equivalent to first division restitution(FDR)type of gamete formation.The other 2n polens were genetically equivalent to second division restitution (SDR)type of gam ete formation.Thus 2n polen produced from IjiIIlal1l persimmon call provide potential value for po lyploidy breeding in persimmon.

  • The possible physiological mechanism of enhancement of cold tolerance by salicylic acid(SA)in banana seedlings(Musa A L.CV.Williams 8188)was explored.1 d of 0.3—0.9 mmol·L-1 SA treatment at 22/15 ℃ by spayed to leaves and irrigated to roots of banana seedlings)significantly enhanced chilhng-resistance of banana seedlings during subsequent 7 ℃ or 5 ℃ low temperature stress, indicated by the reduction of electrolyte leakage or wilting aIea,respectively.Under normal growth condition(22/15 ℃),1 d of0.5 mmol·L-1 treatment eaused a slight decrease of Fv/Fm,Fv’/Fm’,qP,卯S1I and Pn.However,SA pretreatment markedly inhibited the reduction of Fv/Fm, Fv’/Fm’,qP,卯SⅡ and Pn,and alleviated the rapid increase of Fo and NPQ during 3 d of 7 ℃ low temperature.And during 2 d of recovery periods(22/15%:),SA pretreattment also accelerated the recovery of these photosynthetic parameters above.Th e results indicated that SA pretreatment could provide a protection for the cell membranes and the photosynthetic functions of the cold-stIIessed banana see(uirlgs, which could help to enhance thechiling tolerance of banana plants.

  • Under controlling temperature and light intensity conditions , the temperature compensation point (TCP)and the star time of photosynthesis(STP) of cucumber leaves have been studied by nsms a CIRAS-1 portable photosynthetic instruments which manufactured by PP system company of England.The results showed that the TCP of cucumber leaves 3.3℃ at low temperature(3—15 and 400 μmol·m -2·s PFD)and 48.9—50.7℃ at high temperature(40—48 and 1300 μmol·m -2·s PFD)respectively. efect of low temperature
    0n TCP in diferent cucumber varieties was smal1.TCP of CV.‘Xintai mici’,a solar greenhouse variety,was relativelv lower at high temperature than that of the ‘Jinyan 4’, an open-field variety. The TCP of cucumber of old
    leaf Was higher than that of young leaf under low temperature.Generally,the stal~time of photosynthesis(namely,Pn from zero to maximum) in cucumber functional leaf was 42—45 min,but that in old lear was 54—60 min.

  • This study was conducted to determine the efects of diferent 03 concentrations (A,8.93×10-9mol/L;B,4.46 × 10-9mol/L;C,≤ 4.46×10-10 mol/L; Control, ambient 03 concentrations were about 1.12×10-9—1.79×10-9 mol/L)and diferent exposure last times( gatiIlg 5 d, 10 d,former 15 d,later 15 d and 30 d)at 8.93×10 mol/L oll Chinese cabbage by using 4 farmland open top chambers OTC-1,The results showed that yellow leaf rate increased.daily increase of total biomass decreased an d the ways of assimi.1ation products distribute to organs cha sed with 03 concentrations increase.Leaf number, leaf area, net photo.synthesis of the outer leaves and yield of Chinese cabbage were reduced greatly as the exposure last time at 8.93×10-9mol/L was prolonged during experiment.And there was little efect to the other leaves. At the same 03 concentration(8.93×10-9mol/L)and exposure last time during diferent growth time of Chinese cabbie.the responses of economy yield and total biomass to 03 concentration prophase treatment were nlOl~heavier than that of anaphase.Leaf al a was contrary.But there was no efect to leaf numbers.

  • An observation was made on some characteristics of flowers in F1 generation by the 28 multiple combinations between 30 varieties of Chrysanthemum.The results indicated that red color of flowers was stronger than yellow at genetic, and original color of yellow and white didn’t be long to matroclinal heredity.White matroclinal could produce’vide separating color in F1 generation.The inflorescence diameter. number of ray florets and tubular florets appeared heterosis in F1 generation.The hybrid’s mean inflorescence diam eter, the number of ray florets an d tubular florets were 122.%, 128.% and 124.7% of parent’s respectively, and the value of these three characters inclined more slowly, even appeared hybrid weakness except formean infl orescence diameter as the parent’s increased.The heredity of flat plate shape was stronger than 1—3 cycle plate shaped flower.

  • The research result of the in vitro propagation of the Phaeomeria magnifica is presented in this paper.The results showed that: Using MS+6-BA 2.0 mg/L+NAA 0.1 mg/L+CW 10% ills proliferation median3. An optimal proliferation rate Wills obtained,the proliferation rate could reach 4.3 times:Using double shoots ills explants,after 30 clays of culture in this median3, it could amplify 5.4 times. The root formation of Phaeomeria magnifica tissue culture shoots had a low demand for exotic hormones,even in a medium of no hormones it could still form a gooa root system, the rooting rate could reach 100%.The transplantation of Phaeomeria magnisqca tissue culture shoots wills simple and feasible.There wills no strict demand for matrix,when the planflets were transplanted to superficial soil,the survival rate could reach 100%.and the plants grew well.

  • By investigating and specimen consulting and literatures searching, morphological characters and variations of diferent populations of every species,interspecies hybrids and a ginal cultivated type seedling‘Fengdanbai’ in Sect. Moutan Subsect Vagiatae were systematically observed and described. According to the results,the authors put forward some classificatory characters,genetic rules of purple blotches at the base of petals and color of flower disc an d filaments, and drew a conclusion that plentiful variations of cultivated tree-peony comeing from hybridizntion of wild species.Classificatory degree of Paeonia yananensis and P.rockii sp.linyanshanii were also discussed. Finally,morphological evolvement trends in the subsect were elementarily analysed.

  • Effects of twig girdling at different shoot stages in spring and autumm on new shot growth and starch accumulation in the twigs of litchi (Litchi chinenis Sonn.CV.Huaizhi)were studied.Girdling significantly inhibited the new shot growth, resulted in the formation of swelling callus above the girdle and
    significant thickening, and caused massive accumulation of starch in the twigs. The inhibitory efect on shot growth and stimulative effect on starch accumulation of girdling in autumn were significantly stronger than the treatment in spring.Girdling position,i.e.distance from girdle to base of new shot or apical bud(L) and the area of the old leaves above the girdle did not influence the inhibitory efect of giIdliIlg.However,there was a significant positive correlation between starch accum ulation and the ratio of S/L.i.e.leaf area in unit length of shot.The stage of new shot development exerted a significant influence on the inhibitory effect of saalms.The new shot hardly grew when girdling Was done before the bud elongated.while there was considerable new shot growth when girdling at rapid elongation stage.

  • This paper dealt with the relationship between heat induced chilling tolerance in ‘Zihua’(Mangifera indica L.) fruits and changes in protein contents,with results as follows:1)12 h to 3 d of hot-air treatment at 38 ℃ significantly enhanced the chilling tolerance of‘Zihua’ fruits. 2) The heat treatment increased the protein levels in mango fruits, and during low temperature storage at 2℃ and ripening at 20℃,the heated mangon remained hi in protein contents.3) Among the proteins increased as a result of heat treatment,the
    heat-stable proteins mango up a relatively high protein.These results showed that the heat.induced proteins were related to the chilling tolerance,and that the heat.stable proteins newly produced under heat stress was one of the most important factors in inducing chilling tolerance.

  • The male sterile plants were significan tly higher than male fertile plants during rosette and anthesis in recessive genic male sterile AB line in Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris L.ssp. chinensis Makino). Cyanide-ilsistant respiratory rate of buds in male fertile plants were significantly higher than that in male sterile plants.Buds of male sterile plants had deficient IAA an d surplus ZT.The bands of peroxidase isozyme of middle and big buds in male fertile plants were moil obvious than in male fertile plants.There were two tapes of cytochrome oxidase isozyme of little and mi ddle buds and moil obvious in male fertile plants.There were two specific tapes in soluble protein electrophoilsis in male fertile plan ts,and one in male sterile plants.

  • Effects of iodine with diferent adding manner8 on radish sprouts in culture solution was studied.The results showed that the growth of the root,at iodine concentration of 0.5—1.5 mg/L,was restrained ,while the content of vitamin C, total free amino acid and fibre content in edible parts of radish sprouts were increased.the concentration exceeded 1.5 mg/L, the beneficial efects of iodine diminished even changed into toxic elfects.The iodine content in edible parts of sprouts mised up significantly with the increasing of the concentration of iodine in culturing solution.There existed significant diferences among varieties and between iodine adding n'ifllmer.

  • Experiments showed that net photosynthetic rate of leaves,the concentration of total sugar,freshness amino acid,sweetness amino acid,and acetate components(n-amy1 acetate,2-butoxyethyl acetate)of flesh were significantly increased in 24O mg·L-1 potassium level, which resulted in improving photosyn thesis and quality of muskmelon.However,no significan t diference in yield was recorded among the treatments.Potassium imufllcient or excessive in this stuay resulted in increased non.stomatal linfirations to net photosyn thetic rate.Favorable nutrient value and flavor of muskmelon in medium culture were achieved when potassium level was adjusted to 240 mg·L-1 in this study.

  • Isolated and purified cotyledon protoplasts of cucumber(Cucummis sativust L. ‘Cuixiu’)were cultured at diferent population density ranging from 5.5×10/mL to 5.5×105 /mL in mKM8p liquid medium respectively an d underwent cell division in varying degrees.Sustained cel divisions with eventual somatic colony production occurred only when the population density of protoplasts exceeded 1.0×103/mL. the highest plating efficiency was about 54% .Lager quantifies of embryoids diferentiated from protoplast derived ealli and then converted into planflets after succedent induction culture.Results demonstrate that the concentration of Ca2+ has an important effect on the stability an d cel division of cucumber protoplasts.

  • Cut rose(Rosa hybris )‘Samantha’,a cultivar with strong tolerance to water deficit stress,and‘Belami’,a cultivarwith middle range tolerance weI'e used to investigate the cha ses of contents of soluble protein and free amino acid, and endopeptidase activity in petals during flower opening and senescence. The results showed that obvious differences between the two cultivars were obtained in contents of solub le protein and free amino acid,an dendopeptidase activity during flower ope ning and senescence,although the salTle change patterns were obtained .Soluble protein content was lower in ‘Samantha’tllall in ‘Belami’.Endope ptidase activity Was much higher at pH 10,although it Was lower at pH 6 in‘Samantha’than in ‘Belami’.However,it Was confirmed in petals of the two cultivars that there were two kinds of endopeptidase:mercapto proteinase an d serine acid proteinase.The results above suggested that the diference of endopeptidase activity between two cultivars might be related to their tolerance to water de6c stress.

  • This paper dealt with in vitro eficient o~ant regeneration on WPM media with 0.6(mg· L-1,the same below)IBA and 8.0 BA,using Platanus orientalis L.1eaves and their calli as explanm.The results indicated that WPM might be the basic medium for the plant regeneration,and that bud inductionⅡ ia of the 5th,6th,7th leaves (from the bases of seedlings) +0.1 IBA+3.0—2.0 BA,and the 5th leaf cam induced on +0.6IBA+8.0 BA medium was +0.1 IBA+4.8 BA.Root induction medium was 1/2 MS+0.1—0.5IBA.These results might provide reference to cell and gene engineering manipulations and quick propagations of Phuanus orienitalis

  • The culture of the stem-bud from crown and stump shoot of Machilus yunnanensis var. duclouxii in vitro was studied.The results showed that the less browning and high germination rate of axially bud from the stem-bud appeared on the medium of MS+BA 4mg·L-1+NAA 0.5 mg·L-1,and the plan tlets grew well,which was beneficial to later mutipulcation.Th e tufted buds were diferentiated on the mediunl of MS+BA 8mg·L-1 +NAA 0.5 mg·L-1+KT 1.0 mg·L-1,but multiplication rate was low.On the medium of 1/2 MS + NAA 0.1 mg·L-1,the white healthy roots were induced .The taken parts,taken-time of explants of Machilus yunnanensis var. duclouxii and hormone in medium are main factors that cause browning an d afect the speed of propagation during breeding.

  • Inflorescences were induced by culturing flower-stalk buds of Phalaenopsis on V&W medium containing vitamin component of B5 medium and 5.0 mg·L-1 benzylaminopurine(BA) under 22°C.Adventitious shoot were induced from the intemodal segments of inflorescence by using the NS medium containing vitamin of B5 medium 0.5 mg·L-1BA and 0. mg·L-1 NAA.The low sucrose concentration benefits the shoot's diferentiation and growth. Shoot were propagated on the same medium and developed into plantlet on Hyponex 1 nlediuln containing 100 g·L-1 banana juice and 2 g·L-1 active charcoal.

Tube Zaohe 2 has excellent quality.Tube Taoxing 1’s fruit shape is similar to peach. Tube Tianfeng has sweet seeds.six new cultivars showed tlle simle characteristics with early ripening,early bearing,high yield,frost resistance,high economical value and widely development prospect.

  • ‘Yanchuan Goutouzao’is a new fruit-drying variety of jujube.The fruit is large,oval or taper shape ,the average fruit mass is l8.7 g,the heaviest reaches 25.4 g.The fruit is unifonTl,attactive,good quality fruit,and applicable to fruit-eating and acing.The flesh is crisp,juicy,and sour sweet.The fresh fruits ripen in late September, the ripening date of drying -fruit is in early October in north Shaanxi. Th e fresh fruits have long storage life.And its cultivated region is in north China with the cool temperature(10.0—11.0℃)and rainfall(annual preciptafion of about 500 mm).

  • Two new hybrid varieties of Michelia, ‘Chuju hanxiao’and ‘Chunyue hanxiao’,are selected from hybrid pupulation between Michelia ymuumensis and Michelia calcicola. The two new varieties are characterized by evergreen brush,large and fragrant flowers, long flowering date form Feb. to Apt., strong adaptability to drought,poor soil and pest,and easy propagate.Both two varieties are good ornamental plants in gardens for enjoyilag flowers and leaves.
