Abstract: The‘Jiaoyang 1’poplar is a novel autotetraploid cultivar developed by colchicine-induced chromosome doubling of a hybrid from Populus deltoides × P. ussuriensis. Compared to its diploid donor,‘Jiaoyang 1’exhibits distinctive traits：a light-green pigmentation on both the shaded and sun-exposed surfaces of the upper stem,leaves with a midvein-to-maximum-width ratio of 1.2-1.5,a cordate base,an acute apex,and a longer petiole. This clone is suitable for landscaping and afforestation,particularly in Northeast China,Northwest China,and other regions with similar climatic conditions.
