Abstract: ‘Luyan’is a new red-skinned pear cultivar derived from the cross of‘Xinli 7’בZhongxiangli’pear. The fruit is round with the shape index of 0.96. The average fruit weight is 293 g. The peel is yellowish green with a deep red blush on the side exposed to the sun. The flesh is white,fine and loose,juicy and sour-sweet. The average fruit firmness is 4.58 kg · cm^-2. The content of soluble solids is 12.6%. The fruit development peroid is around 125 d and the ripening time is in late August in Qingdao. The tree of‘Luyan’has the characters of medium sprouting and branching ability,easy flower buds formation,more medium and short fruit branches. The average yield is 37 500 kg · hm^-2,indicating a good yield.
