A New High-Quality Pyrus ussuriensis Cultivar‘Huaxiu’

Abstract: ‘Huaxiu’is a new high-quality and mid-ripening pear cultivar selected from the seeding of‘Nanguo’(Pyrus ussuriensis). The tree has a moderate growth vigor and semi-upright posture. The fruit is round with an average single fruit weight of 119.01 g. The fruit skin has a yellow-green base color,and a yellow-brown cover color. The sepal is absent. The flesh is yellowish-white,sour-sweet,and faint fragrant,with an average content of soluble solids of 13.59%. The average fresh firmness is 75.46 N · cm-2. The fruit ripens in early to middle September without post-ripening in Xingcheng of Liaoning Province,with a fruit development period of about 125 d. It is resistant to cold and pear canker. The yield of the full fruit was about 32 000 kg · hm-2. It is suitable for cultivation in Huludao and Anshan City in Liaoning Province,as well as the similar ecological regions.
