Abstract: ‘Baiyuzan 1’is a new lotus root cultivar,specifically specialized for producing lotus sprout（Oudai）. It was developed through artificial hybridization using‘Wuzhi 2’as the female parent and‘Lulinhu Ou’as the male parent,followed by individual plant selection from the progeny seedlings. The harvest period of its lotus sprout is from late May to mid-September. The lotus sprout are crisp,tender and sweet,with an average length of 80 cm and a diameter of 1.3 cm,and the yield is 7 500 kg · hm^-2. This cultivar is suitable for cultivation in the Yangtze River Basin and southern regions of China.
