A New Early-Maturing Pear Cultivar‘Shuduxiang’

Abstract: ‘Shuduxiang’is an excellent new pear cultivar selected from the hybrid progeny of‘Ninomiya White’(female parent)and‘Zaosu Pear’(male parent). It has multiple advantages including cold and disease resistance,stable fruiting,early fruit ripening,and high quality. The fruit is round,yellow-green with a smooth skin. The flesh is fine,crisp,and juicy with few stone cells,containing 13.2% soluble solids and 0.22% titratable acid,presenting a sweet and crisp taste with a high edible rate. This cultivar begins to bear fruit 3 years after planting and enters the stable fruiting period in the 5th year. In Ya’an area,it ripens in early to mid-July(fruit development period:124 days),showing significant early-maturing characteristics. After entering the stable fruiting period,the yield in the full productive stage reaches 22 800-25 125 kg · hm-2. With stable and excellent comprehensive traits,it is suitable for cultivation in the main early-maturing pear producing areas of Sichuan Province and regions with similar habitats.
