Abstract: The elite family of‘Dongfei’mango rootstock is a new excellent mango rootstock cultivar. It was selected as a superior individual plant from the seedling population of Mian 8 in 2007,and then breeding trees were established by grafting onto‘Sannianmang’rootstock. As a rootstock,the elite family of‘Dongfei’mango rootstock exhibits characteristics of vigorous growth,it produces 4 to 6 flushes annually,with a variation rate below 0.5% in seedling propagation. It shows excellent graft compatibility. When used for major commercial cultivars in Yongren,Yunnan,no trunk size disparity（trunk mismatch）occurs,compared with a 10.3% incidence in‘Caomang’rootstock. It has strong cold tolerance. The rate of trunk gummosis or cracking in 6-year-old mature trees is only 2%,much lower than 85% in‘Caomang’. It is suitable for cultivation in the dry-hot valley regions of Yunnan.
