Isolation and Expression Analysis of LFY Homologue from Strawberry

Abstract: The LFY homologue named FaLFY was isolated from strawberry(Fragaria × ananassa ‘Huaji’)with the method of RT-PCR and RACE. Its expression pattern in different tissues and floral organs was checked with qRT-PCR. The CDS of FaLFY is 1 236 bp in length and it codes a predicted protein of 412 amino acids. The amino acid identity compared with other LFY homologues is highly conserved and shows the highest similarity(88%)with the LEAFY-2 of Rosa canina. The real-time RT-PCR result showed that FaLFY mainly transcripts in reproductive tissues,especially in flower buds,no transcription was detected in vegetative tissues,neither in the four whorls of flower organs. The results showed that FaLFY play an important role in the processing of flowering in strawberry.
