Abstract: The effects of temperature and light on flower bud differentiation of Daphne odora var. marginata were investigated. The results showed that temperature was a main factor affecting flower bud differentiation of Daphne odora var. marginata. Under 20–25 ℃ Daphne odora var. marginata could undergo the whole process of flower bud differentiation, while under 10–18 ℃ it could not undergo flower bud differentiation but just maintained the vegetative growth process. We also found that flower bud differentiation of Daphne odora var. marginata was insensitive to the photoperiod, but the indirect sunlight was more favorable for flower bud differentiation than the direct one.
