A New Walnut Cultivar‘Mobao’

Abstract: ‘Mobao’is a new cultivar discovered during the investigation of walnut resources in Moyu County,Hotan Prefecture,Xinjiang. It is characterized by its robust tree vitality,tightly closed sutures,rich aromatic taste,and a sweet aftertaste. The nuts are spherical,with an average weight of 23.14 g per fruit and a shell thickness of 1.33 mm. The kernels are yellow-white and have a kernel percentage of about 56.21%. The crude fat content is 63.8%,the crude protein content is 19.9%,and the tannin content is 21.78 g ꞏ kg-1. This cultivar is highly productive and its yields are stable,with individual trees producing over 200 kg during the peak fruiting period. It is suitable for cultivation in the walnut-friendly areas around the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang.
