A New Cultivar of Vegetable Wolfberry‘Ningqicai 2’

Abstract: ‘Ningqicai 2’is a new vegetable-type wolfberry cultivar developed from the hybrid population of‘Tianjing 3’(female parent)בQ5’(male parent). It exhibits excellent yield performance and high quality,with great development and utilization value. Compared with the existing variety‘Ningqicai 1’,it shows advantages including high survival rate,strong growth vigor and large biomass.The total aboveground biomass is 59 986.8 kg · hm-2,the crude protein content is 175.9 g · kg-1,and the carbon content is 315.8 g · kg-1,making it suitable for feed development. Its tender shoot yield ranges from 2 908.2 to 9 000 kg · hm-2,and it is rich in various nutrients such as calcium,polysaccharides and flavonoids. Specifically,it contains 20 g · kg-1 calcium,125.41 mg · g-1 total sugar,3.61 mg · g-1 polysaccharides,19.52 mg · g-1 flavonoids and 4.02 mg · g-1 alkaloids,making it suitable for producing high-grade bud tea and sprout vegetables. It has wide environmental adaptability and can be cultivated in Ningxia,Qinghai,Gansu,Xinjiang and other regions. It is suitable for both open-field and protected cultivation. Ridge culture with wide-narrow row planting is recommended for transplanting.
