Abstract: ‘Huohuang 1’is a new tea plant cultivar which was selected from local varieties through individual selection in Heishidu，Huoshan County，Anhui Province. It is a shrub type，small leaf and middle sprouting clone. The young buds and leaves of‘Huohuang 1’tea plant are jade yellow. The green tea made from its tender leaves has a fine and compact appearance，jade yellow and green color，high and fresh aroma，sweet taste and excellent sensory quality. The content of water extracts，tea polyphenols， amino acids，and caffeine in steamed green spring tea samples was 48.2%，16.8%，5.2% and 4.2%， respectively. It has strong cold resistance，moderate resistance to tea anthracnose and moderate resistance to tea leafhopper，and is suitable to be cultivated in Anhui Province and tea areas with similar climatic conditions.
