Abstract: An ethylene response factor gene CaJERF1 was isolated from hot pepper using the methods of RT-PCR and RACE. The full length of the cDNA sequence is 1 379 bp,encoding a protein of 375 amino acids, with predicted molecular weight 41.5 kD. The putative protein contains a conserved ERF motif of 59 amino acids that shares 100% and 99% identities with this domain of CaPF and tomato JERF1,respectively. Alignment of full sequences indicates that CaJERF1 protein has high similarity to CaPF(99%)and JERF1(86%),belonging to Ⅳ subgroup of ERF subfamily. Northern blot analyses showed that ethylene, jasmonic acid, high salt and low temperature obviously induced the expression of CaJERF1,suggesting that CaJERF1 might be involved in multiple stress responses.
