A New Pepper Cultivar‘Ejiao Hongyuanshuai’

Abstract: ‘Ejiao Hongyuanshuai’,a new pepper cultivar,was bred by BL-8 and P5114-3. The long string-shaped fruit is straight,light green,and the mature fruit is red. The fruit has smoothsurface and two ventricle. It is crisp,spicy. The longitudinal diameter and transverse diameter of fruit are 22–24 cm and 1.8 cm,respectively. The average fruit weight is 18 g. The flesh contains 1 120 mg • kg-1 vitamin C,0.11% capsaicin. The cultivar has resistance to TMV,CMV,and middle resistance to anthrax and Phytophthora blight,and Intermediate tolerance to heat in the field. It is suitable for open field cultivation in Hubei Province,with the yield of more than 45 000 kg • hm-2.
