Abstract: The present status of salt tolerance in potato was reviewed from 4 aspects:the evaluation of salt tolerance resources in potato, physiological response and molecular mechanism under salt stress and potato improvement with salt tolerance by genetic engineering. Meanwhile, the related problems of potato salt tolerance research are discussed and prospected. Some suggestions are as references to reveal the mechanism of salt tolerance in potato, identify salt resistant resources and innovate salt tolerant varieties.

Key words: potato, salt tolerance, evaluation, physiology, molecular mechanism, genetic engineering
