Abstract: ‘Zichen’is a new crabapple cultivar with excellent appearance which was selected from seedlings of natural hybridization of crabapple‘Guanghui’. The tree posture is upright. The cultivar has strong tree vigor. One-year-old shoots are purple-red. The leaves is elliptic. Crabapple‘Zichen’has great ornamental value because of its slender leaves，massive and colorful flowers and purple-red fruit，especially the different colors of leaves，shoots and fruits during different growing periods. Its young leaves are amaranth and the mature leaves are green. The flower is purple-red and massive. This species has higher branching ability and axillary flower bud bearing fruits as well. Crabapple‘Zichen’can be used for streets，squares，courtyard and other landscaping.
