Abstract: ‘Baijin 1’is a new pansy cultivar bred by crossing a Viola cornuta inbred line JB-2-1-1-5 as the female parent and a V. tricolor inbred line 08H-3-2-1-2 as the male parent. This cultivar has a strong growth habit，an early flowering，and a large number of flowers. Its flower consists of two upper purple petals，two side light purple petals，and a lower light purple petals，with some radial lines in the center of the flower，and a small blotch at the lower end of the lower petals. The plant of the cultivar has a compact plant type and a good cold tolerance，making it an excellent bedding flower or potted flower in the cool seasons.
