Isolation and Identification of the Pathogen Causing Phytophthora Blight of Pachira macrocarpa

Abstract

Abstract: The diseased plants of Pachira macrocarpa showing symptoms of phytophthora blight were collected from Zhanjiang，Guangdong Province from 2008 to 2009. This study proved that the pathogen was a kind of fungus by test of Koch’s postulates. The pathogenic fungus was identified as Phytophthora palmivora based on pathogenicity and morphology，host range and sequence analysis of rDNA-ITS.
