A New Late-Maturing Cultivar of Choerospondias axillaris‘Ganwan 2’

Abstract: ‘Ganwan 2’is a new late-maturing cultivar selected from wild Choerospondias axillaris. It has the characteristics of long fruit growth period,late-maturing,good storability,and high pulp content. The fruit ripens from mid-to-late October to December. The average fruit weight is 22.5 g,with pulp content of 55%-59%. The fruit contains 132.53 mg · g-1 of total dietary fiber,2.28 mg · g-1 of vitamin C,72.99 mg · g-1 of flavonoids,5.84 mg · g-1 of polyphenols,16.63 mg · g-1 of tannins,and 11.70 mg · g-1 of pectin. The yield per plant of 8-year-old is up to 100 kg. It is suitable for cultivation in fertile or moderately fertile red soil/yellow-red soil within altitudes of 300-1 200 m,located south of the Yangtze River Basin.
