Abstract: Stem bending often occurs during the postharvest period of gerbera(Gerbera jamesonii)flowers, and is a major reason for postharvest loss of gerbera flowers. It has been reported that stem bending of cut gerbera flowers is coordinately regulated by various endogenous and exogenous cues. This paper reviewed the regulatory roles of four important factors of stem bending, including scape organization structure, substance metabolism, xylem blockage,as well as plant hormones. Based on this, the prospects in the future research on the relationship between influence factors and molecular mechanism of stem bending of cut gerbera flowers were also discussed.
