Abstract:

As one of the largest transcription factor families in plants,MYB transcription factors play a central role in regulating the biosynthesis of aromatic compounds in horticultural crops. Recent studies have clarified that MYB members precisely regulate the synthetic metabolism of key aromatic substances, including terpenoids, phenylpropanoids, and fatty acid derivatives,by directly binding to structural gene promoters or forming complexes through interactions with proteins such as bHLH and WD40. This review systematically summarizes the functions and mechanisms of MYBs in the aromatic synthesis regulatory network over the past decade, focusing on their regulatory pathways in model plants and major horticultural crops. It also proposes future directions for the regulation between environmental factors and MYB-mediated aroma synthesis.
