Abstract: ‘Suyu 14’is a new suitable for shallow trough directional cultivation yam cultivar，is a mutant strain of‘Yongfeng’yam that has been systematically selected. The plant grows strongly with thick vine，has dark green leaves that are halberd shape. There are bulbils in the axils of leaves，and the number is medium. The tuber is cylindrical，about 80 cm long and 3.0–5.0 cm thick；The number of tubers per plant is 1–2，the weight of tuber per plant is about 0.80 kg，and the yield is about 22 500 kg · hm^-2. The growth period is about 140 d，which is resistant to anthracnose and soft rot and high temperature tolerance，and can be cultivated in the north of the Changjiang River in Jiangsu Province.
