Abstract: Aglaonema‘Hongjian’is a new ornamental cultivar with medium plant type，which is selected from a bud mutation found among a population of tissue-cultured Aglaonema‘Red valentine’plants. The leaves are narrow，oblong，and the shape of apex of the leaves is strongly acute. The upper side of leaf blade is dark pink to dark red，accounting for about 75% to 90% of the total area of leaf blade. There are green and dark yellow green blotches at margin and throughout the leaf blade. The third mature leaves from top are 17.2 cm in length and 7.1 cm in width on average.‘Hongjian’has bright leaves and high ornamental value. The natural flowering period is from late November to next March.‘Hongjian’is suitable for facility cultivation in Guangdong Province.
