Abstract: ‘Zihong’is a new Curcuma cultivar developed by crossing two excellent strains of female parent C. Inodora‘Ziyan’and male parent C.‘Red Torch’. This cultivar is characterized by strong growth vigor. The average height of mature plants is 75.5 cm，and the longest leaf is 80.0 cm in length and 12.0 cm in width. The terminal spike inflorescence is 53.0 cm long，with 48.0 broad ovate bracts. The average length of bracts is 4.2 cm，the average width is 3.2 cm. The upper bracts are dark purplish red，the lower bracts are light green with purple apex. Florets born in axils of bracts are milky white，and the center of labellum are yellow. It flowers from June to November，ornamental period of single inflorescence in field is about 30 d，life of cut vase is about 15 d.‘Zihong’is suitable for planting in the open field in southern Guangdong Province.
