Abstract: Chionanthus retusus‘Xinrui’is a flowering tree species with a full and round crown，branches that are slanted or stretched horizontally. The inflorescences are neatly arranged on the leaves，with dense and abundant flowers，strong layering，and outstanding ornamental traits. Its mature leaves are deep green，thinly leathery，elliptical in shape，with a blunt rounded tip and a wide wedge-shaped base；Bisexual flower，white，large flower shape，with inwardly curled valve tips；The fruit period is from May to October. It is a stone fruit with an elliptical shape. The fruit is green in the early stage and blue purple in the later stage. There are often 1–4 seeds in the fruit. It is a multi-purpose landscaping plant that combines flower，leaf and fruit observation. It is suitable for planting in the plain areas of Beijing.
