A New Carya cathayensis Cultivar‘Zhelinshan 3’

Abstract: The new early-ripening hickory cultivar‘Zhelinshan 3’was selected from the wild seedlings of Carya cathayensis in Tianmu Mountain area,Zhejiang,China. The fruit matures in late August to early September in Lin’an area. The average nut weight is 3.98 g. Nut shape index is 1.08. Kernel percent is 43.79%. The kernel total fat content is 68.73%. It has the properties of early-ripening,good quality,high yield,with extensive adaptability and strong resistance. The new cultivar is appropriate to be planted in sandy loam to clay loam with deep,fertile and good drainage in the mountainous and semi-mountainous areas in Zhejiang and Anhui provinces,China.
