A New Pear Cultivar‘Luxiu’

Abstract: ‘Luxiu’is a new middle maturing pear cultivar derived from the cross of‘Whangkeumbae’בYali’pear. The fruit is round with the shape index of 0.92. The average fruit weight is 317 g. The peel is brown. The flesh is white with fine texture,crisp taste,aboundant juice,stong flavor of sour and sweet. The average fruit firmness and soluble solids is 6.1 kg • cm-2 and 14.2%,respectively. The fruit development peroid is around 120 d and the ripening time is in middle-late August in Qingdao. The tree of ‘Luxiu’has the characters of strong sprouting ability,medium branching ability,easy flower buds formation,more short fruit branches and high yield.
