Physiological Effects of Cerium on Seed Germination and Seeding of Eggplant under Chilling Stress

Abstract: The experiment was carried out to compare physiological indexes on seed germination and seeding of eggplant after cerium treatment under chilling stress. The results showed that Ce was beneficial to alleviate the harmful effects of chilling stress on germination and seeding, which promoted the seed vigor and seeding growth. Itmay be closely related to the increase of membrane permeability, content of proline, soluble sugar, soluble protein and activity of hydrolase, and the decrease of MDA during germination under Cetreatment compared with other treatments.
