Abstract: ‘Zhonggan No. 16’ and‘Zhonggan No. 17’ are new cabbage hybrids with two dominant male sterile lines as female parents. Their early maturity brings high income to farmer. Their heads are nearly round and compact with delicate and tender leaves. They are suitable for growing in the north of China and part of the southwest of China. ‘Zhonggan No. 16’ is suitable for growing in open field in autumn, about 60- 65 days from transplanting to harvesting. Its head weights 1. 44- 1. 48 kg and its mean yield is 45- 60 t/ hm². ‘Zhonggan No. 17’ is mainly to be grown in spring and can also grow in early autumn. From transplanting to harvesting, it is about 55 days in spring and 60 days in autumn. Its head weights 0. 95- 1. 27 kg and its mean yield is 52. 5- 67. 5 t/ hm².
