A New Pod Pepper Cultivar‘Yuehong 461’

Abstract: ‘Yuehong 461’is a new pod pepper F1 hybrid with large fruit-type,bred by MS726-8A as female line and PA461-5-3 as male line. This cultivar has strong fruits setting ability,the fruits is of finger shape with length of 9–11 cm,width of 1.1 cm and smooth surface. The fruit is green color in immature stage and turns to red color during maturity,spicy,and single fruit weight of 6.9 g. The vitamin C content is 1 435.8 mg · kg-1 and capsaicin content is 0.0465%. It can yield fresh pepper about 30 724 kg · hm-2,which was suitable for planting at opening fields in spring and autumn season in the Yangtze River Valley and Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau.
