A New Processing Pepper Cultivar‘Hongbaota’

Abstract: ‘Hongbaota’is a new processing pepper cultivar with male sterile three-line system,developed by crossing CMS line 137A as female parent and restorer line 204C as male parent. It is a medium to late maturing cultivar with a semi-spreading plant type and strong growth vigor. The fruit is sickle-shaped,13.5 cm in length,3.2 cm in diameter,with a flesh thickness of 0.25 cm and an average single fruit weight of 26.5 g. The mature fruit is deep red,with a strong spicy flavor. It has strong resistance to virus diseases and moderate resistance to anthracnose. The yield of dry pepper was 6 150 kg · hm-2. It is suitable for open-field cultivation in the main chili-growing areas of North China,Northwest China and other regions with similar climates.
