New Pepper F1 Hybrid Cultivars‘Zhaojiao 3’and‘Zhaojiao 4’

Abstract: ‘Zhaojiao 3’and‘Zhaojiao 4’are new hot pepper F1 hybrid cultivars. The excellent inbred lines LJ12029,LJ12062 and LJ12025 were selected through multiple generations of systematic from the pepper germplasm resources with local characteristics collected in Zhaotong,Yunnan Province.‘Zhaojiao 3’acquired with lines LJ12062 and LJ12029 as female and male parent,respectively. The fruit is long horn-shaped with 22.7 cm in length,2.8 cm in width,2.6 mm in flesh thickness,and single weight of 20.7 g. The yield is 35 170.5 kg · hm-2. ‘Zhaojiao 4’acquired with lines LJ12025 and LJ12062 as female and male parent,respectively. The fruit is long horn-shaped with 17.3 cm in length,3.2 cm in width,3.3 mm in flesh thickness,and single weight of 25.7 g. The yield is 33 211 kg · hm-2. These cultivars are characterized by erect plant type,dark green leaves and white corolla. The fruitlet is green,and the commercial mature fruit is red. The content of vitamin C is 9.2–19.4 mg · kg-1,and the content of capsaicinoid is 0.047–0.088 g · kg-1. They are suitable for spring planting in areas 1 600–2 000 m altitude in Yunnan Province.
