A New Watermelon Cultivar‘Ningnongke 6’

Abstract: ‘Ningnongke 6’is a small fruit type F1 hybrid of early maturity,bred by crossing selfing line JN14 as female parent and selfing line SH1411 as male parent. The whole growth period is about 114 days,and fruit development period is about 30 days.The fruit is of round shape and the fruit type index is 1.0. Its peel is green covered with dark green strips,0.6 cm in thickness,and 12.4 kg · cm-2 in hardness.This cultivar is tolerant to storage and transportation.The flesh is red in color and crisp.The soluble solids content in center part is about 11.5%.The single fruit weight is 1.7–1.9 kg.It can yield about 60 000 kg · hm-2.The plant growth vigor is strong.It has saline-alkaline tolerance and good adaptability. It is easy to bear fruit.It is suitable for protected field cultivation in Ningxia and the surrounding areas.
