A New Carex giraldiana Cultivar‘Yinfei’

Abstract: ‘Yinfei’,a new Carex giraldiana cultivar,was obtained from parental Carex giraldiana seeds by 60Co-γ ray radiation breeding. Parental Carex giraldiana was introduced from the top of a mountain national Forest Park. Its leaves are silver-white on the edges,green in the middle and distinctive in leaf color. The texture of the upright leaves is more delicate,with beautiful clusters and good ornamental qualities.‘Yinfei’has the characteristics of strong shade resistance,extensive management,and no pests and diseases were found.‘Yinfei’is suitable for cultivation in Beijing. It has broad application prospects in the understory,slope,ecological restoration areas and other places.
