Abstract: In this study,we systematically investigated the member of CaGRAS gene family in pepper(Capsicum annuum L.)and elucidated their phylogenetic relationships,tissue-specific transcription patterns, and responses to PEG6000 and salt stresses. A total of 54 CaGRAS genes were identified and they distributed on all chromosomes except the 11th. The number of exons ranged from 1 to 3,and isoelectric points ranged from 4.97 to 9.13. Phylogenetic analysis showed that CaGRAS genes were clustered into eight phylogenetic groups. The CaGRAS genes exhibited different expression patterns in distinct pepper tissues. Among them,34 genes highly expressed in roots, eight genes in stems, three genes in mature leaves and eight genes in shoot tips. Moreover, most CaGRAS genes were responsive to PEG6000 and salt stresses. Some genes including CaGRAS11,CaGRAS30,CaGRAS40,CaGRAS44 and CaGRAS50 were greatly induced by both PEG6000 and salt stresses. These results will provide a foundation for further functional research on CaGRAS genes in pepper.
