Abstract: With wild and introduced germplasm resources as original parent，2 Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae cultivars were bred. The stem color and corolla color of‘Longqin 1’is light green and light blue，respectively，and the taproot is clear and thick which twists and forms a subcylindrical shape. The stem color and corolla color of‘Longqin 2’is purple and royal purple，respectively，and the taproot is clear and thick as well. Two cultivars show good adaptability and superior yields. The medicinal materials yield could be as high as 3 000 kg ? hm-2 of dry weight. The content of gentiopicroside，which is the effective medicinal ingredient is 9.9% and 11.8%，respectively，significantly higher than 2.0% regulated by Chinese Pharmacopoeia.
