Abstract: ‘Jinhongdou’is a newly bred cultivar derived from the natural variant population of wild red-fleshed Actinidia arguta at the northern foot of the Wuling Mountains. The fruit is short-round and a fruit shape index of 1.25,with an average single fruit weight of 15.22 g. It has a dry matter content of 18.9%,soluble sugar content of 10.5%,vitamin C content of 1 311 mg · kg^-1,titratable acid content of 0.97%,and soluble solids content of 16.7%. After ripening,both the flesh and skin of the fruit turn red,exhibiting a balanced sweet-sour flavor,rich aroma,and pleasant taste. It matures in early August in low-altitude areas of southeastern Hubei. The average yield during the full bearing period is 11 300 kg · hm^-2. This cultivar demonstrates good adaptability in production areas with similar ecological conditions,such as Hubei and Hunan provinces.
