Abstract

Abstract: The S_13-^b-locus cysteine-rich gene (SCR_13-b) was isolated from pollen of ornamental kale (Brassica oleracea var. acephala) S132b homozygotes, GenBank accession number is EF577028. The SCR_13-b cDNA sequence had an ORF of 237 bp, encoding a 782aa p rotein. The genomic SCR_13-b sequence contained a 758 bp intron with boundary sequences of GT at 5′site and AG at 3′site, which comp lied with the typical‘GT-AG rule’in plants. Genomic DNA blot analysis showed that SCR_13-b was a single copy gene in S_13-bS_13-blines. Pollination bioassay showed that prokaryotic expressed recombinant SCR_13-b can induce SI response and inhibit cross pollen germination and growth.
