An Early Maturing Spring Sowing Edamame New Cultivar‘Suzao 3’

Abstract: ‘Suzao 3’is a new edamame cultivar developed by pedigree selection method from cross combination of‘Liaoxian 1’as female parent and‘Riben 30’as male parent. This is a cultivar with determinate characteristics. Its plant height is 32.7 cm,with 9.1 nodes on the main stem. The pod number of each plant is 26.1,proportion of 2–3 grains is 71.6%. The fresh pod is green. The length and width of pod with 2–3 grains are 5.3 cm and 1.30 cm,respectively. The weight of 100 fresh grain is 71.0 g,and the grain is coating chorion,easy to cooking,good edible taste. This cultivar has the characteristics of lodging resistance and resistance to soybean mosaic virus(SMV)SC3 and SC7 strains,79.0 days from seedling emergence to pod harvest,the fresh pod yield of 10 279.5–11 794.5 kg · hm-2. It is suitable for spring cultivation as fresh vegetable in Jiangsu Province.
