A New Pinellia ternata Cultivar‘Zhaoxia 2’

Abstract: ‘Zhaoxia 2’originated from the local wild Pinellia ternata resources in Zhaotong,Yunnan Province, and was obtained through systematic selection and breeding.The tubers of‘Zhaoxia 2’are round and spherical,with a diameter of 2.72 cm. There are bulbils with a diameter of 1.71 cm above the leaf sheath. The leaves of old plants are lanceolate,with the middle lobe being 12.53 cm long and 2.67 cm wide. The average yield of tubers is 9 222.45 kg · hm-2. The moisture content,total ash content and extractives all comply with the provisions of the Pharmacopoeia of the People’s Republic of China(2020 Edition),and it is highly resistant to tuber rot,damping-off and gray mold leaf spot. This cultivar is suitable for cultivation in areas of Yunnan Province with an altitude ranging from 800 m to 2 400 m.
