Abstract:

‘Wunong 8’is a new watermelon cultivar with good quality，early maturity and cracking resistance. This cultivar is with strong growing plants. It is easy to set fruit，harvesting about 29 d after flowering. The fruit is ellipse，the single fruit weight is 1.43–2.06 kg，and the skin is green with dark green thin strip. The pericarp thickness is about 0.54 cm. Its center and side sugar contents are 12.5% and 10.0%，respectively. In addition，the flesh is red，taste more juicy and delicate. The whole growth period is about 105 days and the fruit developing period is 27–31 days. It is suitable to plant in plastic or greenhouse in spring in Hubei.
