A New Early Ripening Chestnut Cultivar‘Dongyue Zaofeng’

Abstract: The new early ripening chestnut cultivar‘Dongyue Zaofeng’belongs to variant dominant strain, which was selected from chestnut seedlings. It has excellent characteristics such as prematurity, good quality, high yield, early fruit, drought tolerance, resistance to barren and pest especially for spider mite. Size of nuts is middle, with flesh fine and smooth. The nuts is perfect for stir-fry, and the new cultivar is appropriate to be planted in mountains and hills in Tai-yi region, and at river beach area in the Southeast of Shandong Province.
