Abstract: The single node segments of planflets of potato cultivars ‘Mim’ and ‘E-potato-1’ were cultured with salicylhydroxamic acid, the inhibitor of LOX,to identify the effects of LOX on tuberizafion in vitro. The resuits showed that activity of LOX in both the planflets and tubers as well as the concentration of jasmonic acid (JA)
were decreased markedly in the treatments with inhibitor, accompanying by the declines of percentage of tuber formation by planflets, the number of tubers per plantlet and nlean tuber nlass. The activity of LOX in stolons was the highest. It indicated that LOX plays important roles in tuberization and tuber bulking of potatoes, possiblely through the regulation of JA biosynthesis.
