Abstract: ‘Xuelihong’is a new cultivar selected from the naturally distributed population of Distylium buxifolium in Lishui City,Zhejiang Province. It is an evergreen shrub with strongly upright branches and relatively few lateral shoots. The leaves are leathery,oblanceolate,and medium-sized. The mature leaf tips are acute or obtuse,which typically bearing 1-2 serrations on each side. In spring,the young leaves exhibit a gradient coloration from pale purplish-red at the apex to light yellowish-green at the base. The stipules are relatively large and leaf-like. The length of stipule is 0.8-1.0 cm. The width of stipule is 0.3-0.5 cm. It is cold-resistant and blooms early,the blossom date is during January to February,even in snowy conditions. It is relatively salt-tolerant. It can be cultivated in regions south of the Yangtze River in China.
