A New High-Quality Fresh-Eating Chili Pepper Cultivar‘Xingshu 211’

Abstract: ‘Xingshu 211’is a new hybrid cultivar of early maturing chili pepper derived from the inbred line SJ15-14-1-1-1 and SJ12-1-3-4-2-1-1. The fruit is conical with slightly wrinkled surface,straight appearance,thin and crispy skin,soft and glutinous flesh,delicate texture,moderate pungency,and strong fresh aroma. It exhibits rapid fruit expansion,measuring about 25.5 cm in length,3.0 cm in width,with 0.3 cm flesh thickness. The average single fruit weight is about 39.9 g,yielding 45 000-52 500 kg · hm-2. It is suitable for open-field and protected cultivation in early spring,summer,and autumn in Hunan,Hainan,Sichuan,Henan,Guizhou,and Shanxi provinces.
