A New Pepper Cultivar‘E-Yulan Pepper’

Abstract: ‘E-Yulan Pepper’,a new pepper cultivar,was based on XWJHJ-1 and 101-M-1,under a long-term directional selection and identification of resistance. The long lantern-shaped fruit is light green,straight,with wrinkles in the fruit face and three ventricle. It is crisp,slightly spicy. The longitudinal diameter and transverse diameter of fruit are 16.0 cm and 5.0 cm,respectively. The average fruit weight is 50 g. The flesh contains 786 mg • kg-1 vitamin C,0.003% capsaicin,1.10% protein. The cultivar shows resistance to TMV,moderate resistance to CMV,anthrax and Phytophthora blight,and low temperature resistance in the field. It is suitable for open field cultivation,semi-forcing or forcing cultivation in Hubei Province,with the yield more than 52 500 kg • hm-2.
