Abstract: ‘Zhongyu’（original code：05-34,also known as‘Zheli 4’）is a newly released early-maturing fresh sand pear（Pyrus pyrifolia L.）cultivar with high solubles solid content,which was selected from the‘Cuiguan’seedling population. The tree is moderately vigorous and upright. The fruit is oval-shaped with a fruit index of 0.82,featuring green skin speckled with few rust spots. Its white flesh is tender,crisp,and juicy,averaging 328 g per fruit. The fruit quality is excellent,with an average total soluble solids content of 13.2% and a firmness of 3.6 kg · cm^-2. It ripens in late-July in Haining and Tonglu,Zhejiang Province. This cultivar is high-yielding and stable,suitable for cultivation in sand pear production regions in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River,with a yield range of 22 500-30 000 kg · hm^-2.
