Abstract: ‘Chunyan Honglong’is a new F₁ hybrid cayenne-type pepper developed by crossing inbred line 03A008 as the female parent with specialty line 987103 as the male parent. The plant reaches 67 cm in height with an 82 cm canopy spread,exhibits a semi-erect growth habit,and is highly branched with short internodes and strong fruit-setting capacity. Leaves are alternate,entire,and lanceolate. Fruits are green,horn-shaped,and tapering,measuring 25 cm in length and 2.10 cm in shoulder width,with a flesh thickness of 0.10 cm. Each plant produces about 32 fruits with an average single-fruit weight of 28 g. The vitamin C content is 1 270 mg · kg^-1 and the capsaicin content is 0.037%. Fresh fruit yield exceeds 36 000 kg · hm^-2. The cultivar is suitable for open-field cultivation in Jiangxi Province and other regions along the Yangtze River basin with similar climatic conditions.
