A New Olive Cultivar‘Olio 2’

Abstract: Olive‘Olio 2’is a new local outstanding cultivar which selected in Mianning County,Liangshan prefecture of Sichuan Province. It has the characteristic of early fruition,beginning to blossom and yield fruit two years after planting. Fruit yield increases significantly after three years and reaches high production in fourth year. Average yield of every single plant can reach 8.44 kg and single fruit weight is 2 to 3 g,fresh fruit oil content is 17.2% percent and unsaturated fatty acid content is 81.34%. The fruits ripen during early to mid November.‘Olio 2’has very strong adaptability and yielding ability and stability. It is propitious to cultivate in mountainous region and hilly area in Liangshan prefecture and other similar climatic region.
