Abstract:        The new cultivar‘Tianbao 1’was selected by systematic breeding from the original population of‘Baogua’which is a local variety in Huaibei，Anhui Province. It is suitable for making pickled melon. The plant grows vigorously，and both the first branches and the second branches can bear fruit. There are 3–4 fruits per plant，and the fruit development period is 75–80 days. The average fruit weight is about 0.50–0.96 kg. The cultivar is medium resistant to powdery mildew and downy mildew. The yield in the first growth cycle was 38 250 kg · hm^-2，and the yield in the second growth cycle was 41 250 kg · hm^-2. It is suitable for cultivation in the north of Huaihe River in Anhui Province in spring.
